Rev. Boyd Jackson became pastor of Deep River Baptist Church in February 2011. Pastor Boyd and his wife Julie have three lovely children, Nikki, Emry, and Gabe. Pastor Boyd is originally from Florida. He was raised in Georgia (GO BULLDOGS!) but has lived here in North Carolina with his family since 1998. Boyd has been in the ministry since 2003 and serving as a senior pastor since 2008. Pastor Boyd enjoys family time; including activities by coaching and supporting his children’s sporting events, also personal sport participation, Duke Basketball and is a long time Atlanta Braves fan.
Pastor Boyd graduated from Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute, Hendersonville North Carolina, with an Associates Degree in Religious/Church Ministries, April 2005. The College at Southeastern, Wake Forest North Carolina, with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies, May 2010. He continued his education with a Master of Divinity Degree, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Wake Forest North Carolina.

Rayvon grew up in the Grantville community. He began attending Deep Rvier Baptist Church when he married his wife, Doris, in 1976. He is a Sunday School Teacher, serves as a Deacon, and also serves on many committees. He has two children and one grandchild. His favorite passage of scripture is Psalms 23
Jerry Atwood – Chairman of Deacons and Music Director
Jerry Atwood is originally from Sumrall, Mississippi. After marrying a “local gal”, he moved to North Carolina and joined Deep River Baptist Church in 1965. While a member of this church, he and his wife Kaye have raised 3 children who thankfully are all involved in church. He has served in a variety of positions to include being a member of many committees, Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. One of his favorite scriptures is 2 Chronicles. 7:14.
Jerry is a dedicated family man who loves serving God and worshiping Him through song. Jerry is a member of a local gospel group known as “The Harbor Light Singers”. The group has traveled throughout North Carolina and the Southeast for more than 35 years “Lighting the Way to Christ Through Song”.
Jerry has two grandchildren and loves Duke Basketball, in spite of putting his daughter through college at Carolina! Jerry is humbled by the graciousness that God gives to him each and every day.
